C-SPAN @ Boswell Book Company, Milwaukee Oct 29th
Greetings WI fans! I’m happy to say that Boswell Book Company in Milwaukee will be hosting me on Oct 29! Please register for the event through their Event Brite page here.
C-SPAN will be filming the program and I’ll be talking with them and store patrons about Lincoln’s Counterfeiters. If the show is available online I’ll post the link here.
Boswell’s is one of Milwaukee’s independent retailers so it would be great to support them at this event. I will, as ever, sign any book purchased through them at this event. Like Macy’s last month, Boswell is located in part of Milwaukee with significance to Monroe, WI’s history. The Goetz Theater was financed by men connected to the old Plankinton House Hotel. The Plankinton was demolished and the Riverside Theather stands there now. Mr. Plankinton was a meat industry partner of Mr. Armour, both of whom made fistfuls out of Lincoln’s war and profited from The Kentucky Colony’s hold on Chicago.
Black star is the site of the old Plankinton House Hotel. This hotel was build around the same time as the original (pre-fire) Palmer House Hotel in Chicago.
Plankinton House Hotel in 1869, from UrbanMilwaukee.com. It’s the tallest building with a Mansard roof on your LHS.
